That's not the optimal way to play. Instead, the female should be leaning in and applying pressure. She doesn't even need to poach. Just her presence forces tougher volleys, creates hesitation, and opens up opportunities for her partner.
Takeaway: Pressure is valuable, even when you don't touch the ball.
